Turning food waste into Biochar to remove CO2 from the atmsophere
Releaf Earth is a climate tech startup pioneering carbon removal and agricultural solutions leveraging biochar (BCR). Expanding from our roots in food processing technology, we now specialize in producing premium biochar from palm kernel shells. Biochar Carbon Removal (BCR) is a powerful tool for carbon sequestration and a key technology for economic development in Africa. African farmers already experience a 150% global mean temperature rise from a climate crisis they didn’t cause. Releaf's mission is to empower rural communities with improved productivity, crop yields, and a role in achieving Net Zero Emissions.
Releaf Earth pioneers large-scale biochar production in Africa to sequester carbon, restore soil fertility, and create rural economic opportunities. They combine proprietary tools, partnerships, and MRV systems to plan and verify carbon removal projects.
They transform organic waste into biochar and support projects with a proprietary SITE geospatial tool to plan facility locations, a Kraken oil palm de-shelling technology for smallholder supply chains, and MRV applications to verify carbon removal. They vet and select pyrolysis technology per project, enabling scalable, location-specific biochar production with verified carbon sequestration.
Who it’s for: Smallholder farmers, rural communities, and project developers in Africa seeking soil enhancement, carbon removal, and local economic development
