AI teammates for logistics
We're building for the people that keep the world moving. Freight brokers and forwarders operate on razor-thin margins in a relationship-driven business — yet most of their teams spend the majority of their day on manual, repetitive work. We help freight brokers and forwarders build AI teammates that handle their repetitive, manual tasks so teams have time to focus on customers, carriers, and growing the business.
Burt builds AI teammates for logistics that work on top of a company's existing processes and systems, handling daily freight tasks with human-in-the-loop oversight when needed. Their AI aims to automate repetitive logistics workflows to provide full visibility and continuous improvement through learned corrections.
AI teammates that integrate with a company's processes and systems to handle routine logistics tasks. They automate activities such as tracking shipments, responding to ETA requests, quoting, scheduling dock times, and chasing missing PODs or confirmations. The system learns from corrections to improve over time, operates across multiple use cases (track, quote, schedule, chase), and escalates to humans only when necessary. Implementation involves a learn phase, a training wheels phase for corrections, and autonomous operation with controllable pace.
Who it’s for: Logistics teams in companies managing freight and shipments, particularly those using a TMS and needing automated handling of quotes, scheduling, tracking, and exceptions.
Co-Founder & CEO at Burt Studied CS at UCI before dropping to join Pirros (YC W23) as their 2nd engineer. Then joined Replo (YC S21) to build coding agents and wrangle LLMs. Grew up in a logistics family and now trying to help in the space.
Co-Founder & CTO at Burt Studied EECS at UC Berkeley. Previously @ Replo (YC S21) building high-throughput data pipelines and sandboxed code manipulation systems. Now building AI teammates in logistics.
Build models that outperform general, closed source alternatives at a fraction of the cost and latency
Burt helps teams train and deploy specialized domain models that outperform general, closed-source options while offering significantly lower cost and latency. They provide end-to-end support—from data prep and evaluation to training and deployment—and showcase a case where a custom VLM is faster and more accurate than a high-end model.
