We make bacteria and plants that clean up pollution.
Our mission -To ensure current and future generations have access to clean soil, water & air. -To protect and restore earth's beautiful and diverse ecosystems. -To undo the harm of industrial activity on the planet and ensure future industrial activities are more sustainable. Our research -We develop new bio-based solutions that break down and remove toxic chemicals from the environment. We also develop bioreactor based solutions which remove toxins from industrial production pipelines, ensuring contaminants are never released into the environment. -To do this, we've partnered with Nature. Specifically, we have harnessed the power of one of Nature's smallest but most powerful technologies: enzymes. Enzymes are everywhere. They break down the food in your stomach, remove dirt from your clothes, and make our beer. At BluumBio, we look for enzymes found in bacteria, algae, plants and other living organisms that naturally degrade toxic chemicals. We then make these enzymes work better in the lab and come up with develop new applications for these technologies.
BluumBio is a biotech company focused on rapidly cleaning soil, air, and water by identifying and optimizing natural enzymes to remove industrial pollutants. They integrate molecular biology, enzyme design, ecology, and natural product development to create bespoke bio-remediation solutions for field testing.
BluumBio discovers and designs natural enzymes (from fungi, tropical trees, bacteria, etc.) to remove industrial chemicals such as petroleum, pesticides, plastics, and other man-made materials. They go from concept to a bespoke remediation solution for field testing in 6-12 months, combining molecular biology, enzyme design and optimization, ecology, and natural product development to enable nature-driven cleanup.
Who it’s for: Industries and environments needing remediation of soil, air, and water contaminated with industrial chemicals; organizations seeking biodiversity-friendly bioremediation solutions and field-ready bespoke enzymatic treatments.
Has published capabilities and timelines (6-12 months concept-to-field), mentions contact and social channels; no explicit funding/hiring details provided in the text.
I am a biologist dedicated to developing new technologies that harness nature to clean up the environment. I completed my PhD in the Department of Plant Sciences at Oxford University in 2016. Since then, I have worked at UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab to engineer organisms for bioremediation and to understand the environmental effects of genetically engineered bacteria and plants. BluumBio combines my passion for sustainability with my commitment to bioinovation.
