AI-powered workflows for energy infrastructure
Backed by Y Combinator Β· AI Grant
Spark AI is workflow software for solar, storage, and data center developers. We've reviewed and identified over 1 million zoning, permitting, and project-related documents in nearly every jurisdiction in America, so that you can instantly identify project requirements, local sentiment, and fatal flaws in seconds. Weβre trusted by dozens of industry-leading developers representing over 90 gigawatts of project pipeline and $30 billion in financing. Our team combines leadership experience from AI and energy (Microsoft, Apple, Department of Energy, Brex).
Spark provides AI-powered workflows for permitting, zoning, and community sentiment analysis to accelerate solar, storage, and data center development. It combines permitting intelligence, zoning analysis, and competitive/community insights to streamline site selection and diligence.
Spark offers an end-to-end permitting and diligence platform that analyzes sites by land use, permits, moratoria, and ordinances; extracts permitting feasibility from zoning codes; tracks local sentiment from authorities and social channels; and provides auditable outputs with citations. It enables bulk screening of markets, automated site diligence from initial screening to deep-dive analysis, and integration with GIS/mapping tools for comprehensive site evaluation and workflows for portfolio and M&A diligence.
Who itβs for: Energy infrastructure developers focusing on solar, battery storage, and data centers, including developers needing permitting, zoning, and community sentiment intelligence.
Customers: Doral Renewables, LLC, Stellera, Standard Solar

We help large-scale clean energy developers break ground faster
Spark offers an AI-powered planning and workflow tool for large-scale clean energy developers to identify requirements and map insights to counties and parcels, enabling faster pre-construction screening and project development. It targets utility- and community-scale solar/storage developers, aiming to reduce time spent on research, documentation, and portfolio management.
