Hatchet runs two components: a central orchestration engine (managed or self-hosted) and workers running on your own infrastructure. Tasks are written as code (in TypeScript, Python, or Go) and can be composed into workflows with automatic retries and dependency handling. You invoke tasks/workflows via API, schedule them, or trigger on events; workers deploy on Kubernetes, Docker, or other container platforms and connect to Hatchet, scaling automatically. Hatchet includes centralized observability (traces, logs, metrics), OpenTelemetry tracing, and a primitive library to build and compose production-ready patterns.
