Decentralised broadband connectivity.
We enable humans & machines with internet connectivity at a price that they can afford. The inspiration for Wifi Dabba came from the founders working together for the last decade in the mobile application industry and realising the biggest reason for user churn being access to cheap and affordable internet access. From having worked on ground onboarding users and facing poor connectivity issues all the time, we took it on ourselves to fix the internet access problem for the common citizen. At Wifi Dabba (YC W17), we are building a low cost, scalable & distributed Wi-Fi infrastructure to connect next billion users online. We do this by deploying a grid of lasers (Free Space Optics) over the cities & town and bring cheap and fast internet for everyone. We enable anyone to buy 1 gig of data access at a time at a price they can afford. Sachetization of internet access is the foundation to rebuilding internet for all. We do this by leveraging crypto and blockchain to truly make internet infrastructure ownership distributed — our vision is to be connectivity layer for the Web3 world.
Wifi Dabba is building a decentralized broadband network in India, using a Web3-powered model to deploy and manage hotspots via local cable operators (LCOs) and a utility token to drive participation and rewards. The initiative aims to connect millions of subscribers by leveraging a managed deployment approach and real-time network exploration tools.
Dabba offers hardware hotspots (Dabba Lite) purchased by local customers, which are deployed by on-ground LCOs across India. The process includes: Step 1 purchase Dabba Lite starting at $199, Step 2 pay onboarding and select an LCO, Step 3 LCO deploys the hotspot at a location in India, Step 4 earn daily rewards and manage hotspots via the Dabba Explorer. The network is Web3-powered, using the Dabba Token (DBT) as a utility token to drive usage, burn tokens as data is consumed, and reward stakeholders who maintain the network. A managed deployment model aggregates over 100,000 cable operators to deploy hotspots where needed, with an explorer for real-time network stats.
company highlight mentions in news about DePINs and deployment goals; active product offerings (Dabba Pro, Dabba Lite, Dabba Laser) and a public explorer; partnerships with local operators and a token-driven model implying growth and traction in deployment
